About Steamtown Hot Yoga & Barre
MEET OUR OWNER
In 2009, I began my yoga journey at SHY. That one class many years ago changed the path of my life forever. Since then, I have become an instructor at SHY and love to share my passion for yoga with my students. I found my love for the hot yoga lineage as it has helped me overcome lower back injuries while strengthening my mind, body, and spirit.
Yoga changed my life and taught me more about myself than I ever thought possible. It led me to the path of self-realization.
I wish to share a gem of wisdom from the lineage of this practice:
"Do not continue to live in the same old way. Make up your mind to do something to improve your life, and then do it. Change your consciousness; that is all that is necessary." —Paramahansa Yogananda
My training includes:
200-hour YTT Master’s Path and Certified Zen Yoga Instructor through SHY, 2016
Level 2/3 Barkan Hot Yoga Vinyasa with Jimmy Barkan in 2019, 2020, and 2021
Zen Barre Certified, 2018
SUP Yoga Center, 2021
2022 Neuroscience & Yoga in the Treatment of Trauma Certification with a focus on bringing Trauma-Informed Yoga into Mental Health Clinical Practices
25+ years’ experience as a critical care Registered Nurse.
I am a mom to two amazing children, Chase and Julianna, and they are my absolute purpose in life. My goal through this journey of life is to teach them both the power of yoga and positive affirmations, and to live life to the fullest with a good heart.
My husband, Bill, is my rock and without him, I would not be able to wear the many hats that I wear. He is my soul mate and I am forever grateful for his love and compassion.
Owning Steamtown Hot Yoga and Barre is one of my life’s biggest accomplishments. I remember thinking many years ago that I would love to own a yoga studio when I was going through my first teacher training. It seemed like such a far-fetched idea at that moment… but here I am. Never give up on your dreams and your goals. Anything is possible with a positive mind, a determined work ethic, and the will to get through rough times. My goal as owner of Steamtown Yoga is to help as many people as possible see the endless opportunities that can happen in their lives with this life-changing yoga practice.

OUR LOGO
Our logo is the Chinese character representing TAO, often translated as “Way,” “Highest Way,” or “Path”. Here at SHY, we want you to find your path to inner and outer harmony. We chose the Tao for our logo because even though each of us walks an individual path to wellness and fulfillment, our paths can still intersect, intertwine, and enrich each other’s own journey.
